As the curtains came down on the 10th edition of the Harvest Money Expo, one message rang clear across the exhibition grounds at the Kololo Ceremonial grounds.
And the message was that: Knowledge is the most valuable seed a farmer can plant. And indeed, the hundreds of farmers that visited the Lookwell Investments Limited tent left both satisfied and armed with necessary knowledge on how improve the fertility levels of the soils in their farm backyards.
During the three-day expo organized by Vision Group in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Uganda, Lookwell Investments Limited assembled its team of expatriates at the expo, with the primary objective of skilling farmers and equipping them with knowledge of testing soil to determine the nutrient status. Testing help farmers to determine whether soil is either deficient or adequate.

Speaking about the Testing Kits, Lookwell Investment Limited’s Sustainable Land management specialist Kizza Charles Luswata stated: “They are supposed to help farmers improve their soils. Once it says its deficient, then the farmer should be able to know the kind of fertilizer that will help him address that deficiency.”
At the expo, Lookwell Investments Limited showcased testing kits, Rhizobia and Mycorrhiza.

“Rhizobia contains live bacteria that forms symbiotic association with resumes. In the process, they fix nitrogen from the atmosphere and it becomes usable for the plants to make proteins,” said Luswata.
“Mycorrhiza forms symbiotic associations and, in the process, they mobilize phosphorous and avail it to the plants.”
